Our Mission

MoneySavvyHQ exists to help side hustlers, freelancers, and gig workers take control of their finances. We focus on the part most money-making blogs ignore: what happens after you earn the money — taxes, bookkeeping, legal structure, and financial planning.

Why We Built This

I started MoneySavvyHQ after a painful lesson. For 12 years, I worked in logistics management in the Dallas area — stable job, steady paycheck, taxes handled by my employer. In 2020, I started driving for DoorDash on weekends and selling products through Amazon FBA. That first year, I made about $18,000 from my side hustles. I was thrilled — until tax season hit.

Nobody told me about quarterly estimated tax payments. Nobody explained that I owed self-employment tax on top of income tax. The IRS hit me with a $1,800 underpayment penalty, and my total tax bill was almost $6,000 more than I expected.

That experience sent me down a rabbit hole of self-employment tax law, business structure, and financial planning. I read IRS publications, talked to CPAs, and slowly figured out how to manage side hustle finances properly.

MoneySavvyHQ is the resource I wish existed when I started. Every article on this site comes from real experience — either my own mistakes or solutions I discovered along the way.
